The 2023 Cannes film festival is coming to a close. The most prestigious film festival in the world, a two week trek through global cinema, will crown its champions of 2023. Last year, Ruben Östlund took the top prize for his social cocktail Triangle of Sadness, which went onto get Oscar nominated. His second Palme d’Or win of his career, with his 2017 film The Square taking home the prize earlier in his career.
This year, Östlund heads the jury alongside American actors Paul Dano and Brie Larson. Joining them is 2021 Palme d’Or recepient Julie Ducournau for her direction on Titane. Furthermore, Argentinian writer, director Damián Szifron, Afghan writer, director Atiq Rahimi, and Beau is Afraid (2023) actor from France, Denis Ménochat.

As for the film’s in consideration, Zone of Inteerest is a heavy favorite to win the Palme. Anatomy of a Fall and La Chimera as potential spoilers. Look for legendary Koji Yakusho for his work in Wim Wenders Perfect Days to win Actor and either Sanre Hüller in Anatomy of a Fall or Merve Dizdar in About Dry Grasses to take Actress.
